Frequently Asked Questions
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No, absolutely not. All conversion processes happen 100% client-side inside your web browser using WebAssembly. Your files never leave your device and are never transmitted to any cloud servers.
What is a HEIC file and why does my iPhone use it?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the modern file format chosen by Apple to save images captured on iPhones and iPads. It allows iOS devices to capture high-quality images at roughly half the file size of traditional JPEGs, preserving valuable system memory.
Does converting reduce image quality?
Converting always involves a slight encoding process. However, because our tool allows you to adjust the quality slider up to 100%, you can minimize any visible quality loss. For lossless conversion, you can choose PNG as the output format.
Is there a file size or file count limit?
You can convert up to 250 files in a single batch. There is no specific individual file size limit, but because all processing runs in your browser's RAM, very large files may require a device with sufficient system memory.
Does this work on ChromeOS/Android/iPad?
Yes, our converter is fully compatible with ChromeOS, Android, iPadOS, iOS, Windows, and macOS. Any device with a modern, HTML5-compliant web browser can convert HEIC files here.
Do you store or see my photos?
We do not store, see, or inspect your photos. The tool operates completely in your browser's sandbox. Once you close the tab, the image objects are cleared from your device's memory.
Is this really free, and why?
Yes, this tool is 100% free. Because the conversion runs locally using your browser's CPU and RAM, we don't have to pay for expensive cloud processing servers. This keeps our running costs virtually zero.
Can I convert JPG back to HEIC?
No, this tool only supports converting HEIC/HEIF files to JPG, PNG, or WebP. The browser cannot encode images back to the HEIC format since HEIC encoding requires proprietary licensing fees.
